Your fishing guide, Laurent Charenton
Born in Lausanne, on the shores of Lake Geneva, in a family of fishermen, I grew up in the exciting world of fishing with the ambition to make my passion my work.
From pike fishing to fly fishing
I started by learning how to fish for Perch, which is very abundant in Lake Geneva, and then for Trout, a species for which the fishing approach is very different, but so exciting.
Opening up to other species and disciplines, I got into Pike fishing, first on smaller lakes and later at Lake Bret. Eventually, I started to explore Lake Geneva and discovered an incredible population of Pike with flamboyant colours.
At age fifteen, during a stay in Sweden, I got introduced the world of fly fishing. I was able to catch the most beautiful Trout and Grayling of my life. I knew at that moment what my path would be: to make my passion for sport fishing my profession.
Fishing on Lake Geneva, my passion turned into a profession
In 1997, I joined the Interpêche shop in Lausanne, where I learnt the trade of fishing tackle retailer: from customer advice, repairs, manufacturing, and testing of lures of all types, etc.
I also developed fishing techniques, both in freshwater and saltwater, to be able to fish for a maximum number of different species. Thereby, I combined theoretical and practical mastery, in order to always better advise fishermen.
Since 2000, 50% of my activity has been devoted to fly fishing lessons and guiding on Lake Geneva and the rivers of the canton of Vaud.
Co-founder of the first sport fly fishing school in Cuba
In 2002, I went fly fishing on the flats of Cuba. There I met Machito, a professional fishing guide who passed on to me all his knowledge about shallow water fishing and its fish: Bonefish, Permit (Pompano), Tarpon, Barracuda, Sharks, etc…
Having become friends, we shared many adventures on the flats of the Caribbean and discovered every day an authentic and diversified aquatic fauna.
A few years later, we created together the first fly fishing school for children in Cuba, which is still in full operation today.
Professional fishing guide, on Lake Geneva
When I returned to Switzerland, I was lucky enough to be able to continue my activity as a fishing guide and to continue to live my passion to the fullest.
I like to pass on my knowledge of all fishing techniques, to teach you how to use and handle the right equipment, to practice fishing that is both responsible and fun!
My heart’s desire is to share with you a unique fishing experience on the most beautiful spots of Lake Geneva or on the rivers of Vaud. To enjoy this, but to respect our environment, the fauna and the different species of fish that populate these natural environments, of which I am very fond of.
In my professional practice of fishing, I combine the know-how of nature with the know-how of the fisherman: fishing, preservation, sharing, outdoor, fish… so that the respect of these rules of good conduct makes us enjoy together the joys and pleasure of nature!
“Fishing is more than a passion, fishing is an art of living.”
